Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg Steps Down

Effective Immediately, Gregg Will Prioritize Family

Gregg's Resignation Was Announced Today

Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg resigned from his post effective immediately, citing a need to focus on his family. Gregg's resignation was announced today in a statement from the Governor's Office.

Gregg, a Republican, was elected Lieutenant Governor in 2018. He previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he was a member of the Appropriations and Finance Committees.

In his resignation letter, Gregg said that he had made the decision to step down after "much thought and prayer." He said that he and his wife, Lisa, have two young sons, and that he wants to be more involved in their lives.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as Lieutenant Governor," Gregg said in his letter. "It has been an honor to work with Governor Tom Wolf and the people of Pennsylvania.

"However, I believe that it is time for me to step down and focus on my family. I want to be there for my sons and to help them grow up to be good men.

Governor Wolf said in a statement that he was "saddened" to accept Gregg's resignation.

"Adam has been a valuable member of my administration," Wolf said. "He is a dedicated public servant who has always put the people of Pennsylvania first.

"I wish Adam all the best in his future endeavors.

Gregg's resignation is effective immediately. The Governor's Office said that a special election will be held to fill the vacancy.

Gregg's departure comes at a time when the Wolf administration is facing several challenges, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the upcoming budget negotiations.

It is unclear who will replace Gregg as Lieutenant Governor. The Governor's Office said that a "search committee" will be formed to identify potential candidates.

Wolf has 30 days to appoint a replacement for Gregg. If he does not do so, the Speaker of the House will become Lieutenant Governor.
