Southwest Airlines Employee Accused of Stealing $80,000 in Flight Vouchers

Allegedly Produced $79,000 Worth of Fraudulent Vouchers

A Southwest Airlines employee has been arrested and charged with stealing nearly $80,000 worth of flight vouchers from the St. Louis Lambert International Airport. According to police, the employee, identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Jones, admitted to stealing and producing thousands of dollars worth of fraudulent vouchers over a two-year period.

Jones was arrested after an investigation by the Southwest Airlines Loss Prevention Team and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Police say that Jones had received money for the fraudulent vouchers, which he allegedly used to purchase personal items and services.

The St. Louis District Attorney's Office has charged Jones with felony theft. He is currently being held in the St. Louis City Jail and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, March 13.

Southwest Airlines has released a statement saying that it is cooperating fully with the investigation and that it takes matters of theft and fraud very seriously. The airline says that it has implemented additional security measures to prevent future incidents.
