Heavy Rainfall in Mumbai Leads to Waterlogging and Disruptions
Incessant Rains Lash the City
Mumbai experienced torrential rains on Sunday, with the city recording close to 100 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. The downpour, which began on Saturday evening, continued throughout the night, leading to waterlogging in many areas.
Waterlogging and Disruptions
The heavy rains resulted in waterlogging in several parts of the city, particularly in low-lying areas. This led to disruptions in suburban train services, with several trains being delayed or canceled due to waterlogging on tracks.
Orange Alert Issued by IMD
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, predicting further heavy rainfall in some areas of the city. The IMD categorizes rainfall between 645 mm and 1155 mm as "heavy to very heavy."
